Sino Biopharm: More Green Energy, Less Resource Waste

Green manufacturing is an important means to solve national resource and environmental problems, and it is also an inevitable choice for enterprises to take the initiative to assume social responsibility. Paying attention to the efficiency of using resources such as energy, water and packaging materials is a very important part of the process.
In recent years, Sino Biopharm has continued to promote energy conservation and emission reduction, energy structure improvement and new energy utilization. We prioritize energy-efficient equipment and continue to improve energy efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by promoting energy-saving technology renovation, eliminating outdated energy-consuming equipment and expanding the use of new energy scenarios such as photovoltaics.
In 2021, the comprehensive energy consumption per million yuan of revenue of Sino Biopharm was 20.59 MWH, and the renewable energy usage of member enterprises reached 2,906.70 MWH, which is in the excellent level of the industry.
--Take multiple measures to reduce waste of resources--
1、CTTQ builds up grid-connected photovoltaic power station and accelerate the construction of clean energy
Solar energy is one of the cleanest energy sources and is inexhaustible. Member enterprise CTTQ actively expands the scope of green energy applications, and in 2021, the photovoltaic power station with an investment of 6 million yuan and an average annual power generation capacity of more than 1.4 million kWh was connected to the grid. This is the first photovoltaic power generation project applied on a large scale among pharmaceutical enterprises in Lianyungang, marking a new step in the construction of green energy for CTTQ.
The photovoltaic power station is installed on the unused area of the roof of the workshop and elevated warehouse in the Haizhou plant, with an average annual power generation capacity of over 1.4 million kWh, saving nearly 500 tons of coal per year.

In 2021, the Phase I PV power project will generate a total of 1,864 MWh and reduce SO2 emissions by approximately 48.6 tons and NOx (as NO2) emissions by approximately 4.6 tons. The second phase of the PV power project has been connected to the grid since December 2021, and is expected to generate an average of 914 MWh per year.
2、Save energy and reduce consumption, recycle water resources
Industrial water is the most important part of energy consumption, so we also attach great importance to water conservation and recycling, and improve the efficiency of water recycling by introducing water recycling system.
In recent years, member enterprise CTTQ has carried out water recycling projects in several plants, recycling the reverse osmosis concentrated water of purified water units for use as water for replenishment of the roof cooling tower, cooling and drainage of vacuum pumps of lyophilizers, and water for flushing in animal rooms. The four purified water units recover an average of 189 tons of reverse osmosis concentrated water per day, which not only reduces wastewater discharge, but also saves about 66,000 tons of tap water per year.

3、Change the design of package material, reduce resource waste
In terms of packaging materials, we ensure the safety of production and confirm that packaging materials are of 0 pollution, and then we change the design of packaging materials to reduce the material used. We try to recycle the insulation materials to reduce resource waste.
For example, Beijing Tide, a member enterprise of the group, uses recycled insulation boxes instead of disposable insulation packaging, significantly reducing the number of foam boxes and cartons used; CTTQ, a member enterprise of the group, improves the loading capacity of cartons to achieve a 50% saving in the use of cartons per batch of products, etc.
--Promote green office and promote awareness of saving --
The Group promotes the concept of green office, builds and manages office areas in accordance with green building standards. We make full use of natural light to reduce daytime lighting power consumption and retrofit our own office buildings with renewable energy. While creating convenient working conditions, we encourage our employees to save water, electricity, office supplies and green travel.
In addition, member company CTTQ also actively carries out energy conservation awareness promotion, regularly collects and screens employees' energy conservation suggestions, recommends outstanding proposals to relevant departments, and sets up "Energy Conservation Achievement Award" and "Energy Conservation Suggestion Award" to enhance employees' motivation to save energy.
